State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism. Mahbub Ali said tourism would be a helpful force in implementing the steps taken by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to improve the living standards of the rural people.
He was speaking as the chief guest at an online discussion organized by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism on Sunday (September 26) on the occasion of World Tourism Day. World Tourism Day is being celebrated all over the world today under the theme ‘Tourism for Rural Development’.
The state minister said Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina has already taken many landmark steps in rural development. He is constantly working to improve the living standards of rural people. He is building houses for the homeless to celebrate the birth centenary of the father of the nation. He has stood by the helpless people of the village through social security programs.
‘As a result of his initiative, now all the civic amenities of the city are reaching the villages. Each of our villages now has an improved communication system, electricity from home, LP gas, and high-speed internet. The empowerment of rural women has been possible due to the development of financial capacity.
The state minister said it would be possible to further expand these facilities for the rural people through rural tourism development. He further said that work is being done for the development of rural tourism by ensuring the protection of the rural environment. Work is underway to expand community-based tourism in the development of rural tourism in line with rural life. We are constantly working to engage the marginalized people of the villages with tourism and ensure their role in creating a conducive environment for tourism.
