As we all know, sun is the best source of vitamin D. It requires a certain amount of our body to perform various functions. We are lucky to have plenty of sunlight, but many people in many countries are suffering from vitamin D deficiency.
We don’t want to spend too much time in the sun for fear of tanning or sunburn. On the other hand, it is not possible to get enough of these nutrients from food alone. So the Times of India has revealed how long you need to stay in the sun to get the required vitamin D.
To find the answer to this critical question of how long to stay in the sun , researchers from the Solar Radiation Research Group at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) conducted a detailed study. The results of the study were published in the journal Science of Total Environment.
According to research, 10 to 20 minutes in the sun in spring and summer is enough. However, in winter you have to stay in the sun for at least 2 hours. Because only 10 percent of our body is exposed to sunlight in winter. So it takes time to get plenty of vitamin D.
