Three journalists have received the ‘Irab Best Reporting Award-2020’ organized for the first time for educational journalists.
The prizes were handed over to the winners at the inaugural function of the Education Reporters Association, Bangladesh (IRAB) at the International Mother Tongue Institute on Wednesday.
Shariful Alam Sumon, a senior reporter of Kaler Kantho, got the first prize out of 10 contestants. The second prize went to Daily Sun reporter Solaiman Salman and the third prize went to Banik Barta reporter Saif Sujan.
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education. Zakir Hossain handed over the prizes to the winners. Education Minister said. Dipu Moni joined virtually.
The first winner was awarded Rs 50,000, the second winner Rs 30,000 and the third winner Rs 20,000 courtesy of the Education Minister. Trophies and certificates are also awarded.
Ashish Saikat, chief news editor of Independent Television, Sharifuzzaman Pintu, assistant editor of Prothom Alo and Ibrahim bin Harun, assistant professor of Jagannath University were on the jury board to select the best report of the award.
The first part of the program was presided over by the outgoing president of the organization Mustaq Ahmed and conducted by the general secretary Nizamul Haque. The second phase was presided over by newly elected president Sabbir Newaz and conducted by Shariful Alam Sumon.
